DPI Blood Bank is a campus-wide blood donation platform connecting students and staff of Dhaka Polytechnic Institute. We help those in need find compatible blood donors quickly and efficiently within our community.
The platform is exclusively for current students and staff of Dhaka Polytechnic Institute. You need a valid registration number or employee ID to create an account.
Yes, DPI Blood Bank is completely free to use. We believe that saving lives should never come with a price tag. Our platform is run by volunteers and supported by the institution.
For Donors
To donate blood, you must be:
- At least 18 years old and under 65
- Weigh at least 50 kg (110 lbs)
- Be in good health
- Not have donated blood in the last 120 days (4 months)
- Free from infectious diseases
You must wait at least 120 days (4 months) between blood donations. Our system automatically tracks your last donation date and will show you when you're eligible to donate again.
You should not donate if you:
- Have a cold, flu, or infection
- Are taking antibiotics
- Have had dental work in the last 24 hours
- Have had a tattoo or piercing in the last 6 months
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding
- Have chronic conditions affecting your blood
Yes, blood donation is very safe. All equipment is sterile and single-use. You cannot contract any disease by donating blood. Most people experience no side effects, though you may feel slightly tired or dizzy temporarily.
For Blood Requesters
To request blood, log in to your account and go to the "Create Request" page. Fill in the patient details, blood group needed, hospital location, and urgency. Your request will be immediately visible to matching donors.
Response time varies depending on the blood group and availability. Common blood groups (O+, A+, B+) usually get responses within minutes to hours. Rare blood groups may take longer. You'll receive notifications when donors respond.
All requests are reviewed by our team for authenticity. We may contact you to verify emergency requests. False or spam requests will result in account suspension. Please only create genuine requests.
Privacy & Security
Your contact information is never publicly visible. You control whether to share your phone number and email with requesters. When you choose to share, only authenticated users who you've responded to can see your contact details.
Yes, you can delete your account at any time from your dashboard settings. All your personal information will be permanently removed from our database, except for anonymized donation statistics.
No, we never share, sell, or distribute your personal information to third parties. Your data is only used within the platform to connect donors with requesters. Read our Privacy Policy for details.
